Privacy Policy Overview
OnSpot respects the privacy of users, subscribers, publishers, and members who visit our Site or use our Services (as defined below, collectively or individually, “users”). This Privacy Policy explains how OnSpot collects, uses, and discloses information through our Services, as well as through our corporate website.
Scope of Services
OnSpot provides a variety of location- and point-of-interest–based data services to our partners. Some offerings focus on analytics or geographic insights, while others involve the use of data from end users and their devices.
This Privacy Policy applies only to those Services that involve end-user or device data. Services that include such data are referred to in this policy as the “Services,” and the website hosting this Privacy Policy is referred to as the “Site.”
This policy does not apply to any companies that OnSpot does not own or control, or to individuals that OnSpot does not employ or manage.
Safe Harbor Compliance
OnSpot complies with the U.S.–E.U. Safe Harbor framework and the U.S.–Swiss Safe Harbor framework, as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce, regarding the collection, use, and retention of personal data from European Union member countries and Switzerland.
We adhere to the Safe Harbor Privacy Principles of notice, choice, onward transfer, security, data integrity, access, and enforcement.
Services That Use End-User Data
This Privacy Policy applies to the OnSpot Services described above, specifically, those offerings that make use of end-user data. OnSpot provides Services that help application developers, publishers, advertisers, marketers, and other organizations better understand their users and customers through de-identified and anonymous geolocation data.
Our data enables advertisers and marketers to engage with consumers in more relevant ways, including outreach to their own customers. To deliver these Services, we may create anonymous data sets derived from the location data of unique devices and the individuals who use them (“Users”). We then use this information in aggregated, de-identified, or anonymous forms to help marketers improve or refine their ad targeting. These same insights help applications and services understand their Users and assist our customers in connecting anonymous or aggregated audiences to real-world places.
To provide and enhance these Services, OnSpot may partner with other parties, including advertising agencies, brands, media platforms, publishers (such as app developers), and additional advertising platforms (collectively, our “Partners”). These Partners may help us enrich our data sets or deploy our data in ways that support our customers, such as marketers or app publishers.
Categories of User and Device Information
When you engage with our Partners—such as by using their mobile applications or viewing an advertisement they provide—we may collect or receive information about you, your device, your location, your online activity, or the ad you are viewing. This information may include, but is not limited to, the following:
a. Location and Device Identifiers
Geo-location data from your mobile device (typically latitude/longitude) and device-specific identifiers. These may include a mobile device ID, Apple IDFA, Android ID, Windows ID, or other unique device identifiers.
b. Demographic Information
Age, gender, or other details you have provided either to us directly or to one of our Partners.
c. Device and Technical Information
Information about the device and its settings, such as device type (smartphone or tablet), operating system, IP address, network provider, browser type, time-stamp, International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI), time zone, or other unique technical identifiers.
d. Advertising Interaction Data
Details about the ads you view, where an ad is served, and your interaction with it—for example, whether you viewed or clicked the ad.
Information we receive from Partners may be combined with additional anonymous or de-identified information collected from third-party sources. The information we hold may also be associated with geographic locations, used to create marketing segments, or combined with other data to support our Services.
How We Use the Information
OnSpot uses the Information to provide, enhance, and support our Services, including analytics, marketing, and advertising services. We also use the Information to improve the features, functionality, and overall performance of our Services and those of our Partners.
OnSpot may use the Information—along with information provided by our Partners—to develop attributes or insights about users on an anonymous or de-identified basis. For example, we may determine that the anonymous user of a particular device frequently enjoys music, visits coffee shops, or prefers certain consumer goods. That device may then receive relevant information, ads, or offers related to those interests.
We also use the Information to generate analytics that help our Partners better understand their own customers or prospective customers, their services, or their advertising performance. This may include insights about trends or behaviors among anonymous, de-identified, or aggregated users—for instance, identifying groups of users who frequently visit sporting goods stores.
Who We Share Information With
As part of our Services, we may provide Information—including demographic or interest-based segments—to certain Partners. Their use of this Information is not covered by this Privacy Policy. For example, we may share Information with publishers, app developers, and advertisers so they can better understand their customers or user base. OnSpot may also provide similar analytics services to advertisers.
We may share Information with additional platforms and service providers, including companies that serve ads, generate insights, or supply other marketing services to advertisers and marketers. Some of these Partners may use cookies or web pixels to deliver targeted ads, engage users, or determine user location. OnSpot does not use cookies or pixels.
OnSpot may disclose Information if required by law or when we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to comply with applicable laws, or to respond to a court order, subpoena, warrant, or other government request in the manner required by the requesting entity. We may also disclose Information when necessary to protect OnSpot, our Partners, third parties, or to enforce legal rights.
Opting Out of Targeted Advertising
We may use Information to enable advertising tailored to users’ potential interests, preferences, or locations. If you prefer not to receive ads tailored in this way, you may opt out of these Services—including our creation of demographic or interest segments used for targeted advertising—by clicking here.
You can also opt out of interest-based advertising within mobile applications through your device settings.
Many of our Partners provide their own opt-out tools. These options are available through the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI), including on the NAI opt-out page.
